  • Description: Erect or ascending perennials, 2-6 dm; leaflets 5-9, oblanceolate or oblong-oblanceolate, folded or flat, hairy or glabrate above, hairy below; calyx 4-10 mm long, sometimes gibbous; flowers various shades of blue-violet or lavender; occasionally white, 5-14 m long, the banner glabrous or inconspicuously hairy near the middle; legumes 2-2.5 cm X 5-9 mm, pilose. Common in dry, open places or moist mountain meadows and forest openings, 4800-10500 ft. May-Sept.
