Description: Erect perennials, 4-15 dm; leaflets 6-9 oblanceolate, 3-7 cm long, villous or strigulose above and below, or thinly villous or strigulose above; inflorescence with numerous, well-spaced flowers; calyx 6-10 cm long; flowers purple-violet with a pale-eyed banner that darkens with age, 10-13 mm; legumes oblong, 2-3 cm X 6-8 mm, hairy. Common in dry, open places, and in meadows. 6300-10,000 ft. May-Aug.
