Description: Annual. Leaves are nearly 15cm long on large individuals, the higher ones have a lance shape and lower leaves diamond or oval. Inflorescence is a large dense cluster of flowers interspersed with spiny green bracts. The fruit is a capsule with a "lid" which opens to reveal a tiny black seed.
