  • Description: Annuals, 10-30 dm; leaves ovate to ovate-oblong, hispid, 10-40 x 5-35 cm, the margins serrate; involucre 15-40 (200) mm diam, the bracts 13-25 mm long, the margins usually ciliate, usually hispid; disk ?owers 5-8 mm long, reddish-purple or rarely yellow; ray ?owers 25-50 mm long; pappus of scales 2-3.5 mm long. Very common in open, dry to moderately moist soil, along roadsides, especially common in disturbed places, 3300-9000 ft.
